Use Removable Decals for a Quick & Easy Kid’s Room Make-Over

Friday, January 2nd, 2009

Attempting to come up with ways to keep your child’s room interesting as they grow older can be pretty tricky, especially if you’re trying to do it without spending a lot. One of the best ways to do this without a lot of expense and hassle is using removable decals on the room’s walls. This unique method of redecorating will allow you to make things look quite different without much effort. No matter how old your child is, these decals are a smart choice for any parent.

One of the main benefits of making over your child’s room with removable decals is that it is easy and quick. They take only a short bit of time to put up or to take down. This means that you can redecorate as often as you want and have a new design on a regular basis. This is especially great for the picky kid who likes to have a change in their room all the time. Instead of having to paint, add new curtains, buy new accessories, and find matching bedding, you can give the room an entirely new look by adding or taking down certain decals.

You’ll also find that using removable decals for decorations in a child’s room is very inexpensive. While you’ll need to buy the decals, both letters and shapes cost very little when you compare them to the cost of completely redecorating. Since redecorating is pretty costly, and most budgets are at least a little tight, you may not have the money to do a conventional makeover. Removable decals allow you to give your children’s rooms a whole new look, but you won’t break the budget.

There are a variety of different colors and designs that you can choose from when it comes to these removable decals. Whether you are doing a room for a boy or a girl, you’ll find plenty of wonderful options so you can decorate their room in a way that will thrill them. You can pick out the decals yourself, or you may even want to consider having your child sit down and help you pick out the decals they want to make them feel like they are a part of the process.

You can get packages of letter decals for your child’s room. These are a great idea, especially if your child wants to put their name up in their room. Not only can they be used to personalize the room, but your child can have a lot of fun using the letter decals to spell out different things throughout the room. It’s a simple way that they can personalize their room, just the way they want it.

Of course, there are more than just letter decals available. You can also purchase fun shape decals for use as well. A few of the basic designs include circles, hearts, and flowers, which make fun choices for little girls. Every package of decals comes with the same design in a number of different styles and sizes, allowing you to pick the perfect ones for the room.

You can surprise your child for their birthday or on Christmas, or just let them redecorate for the fun of it. These decals are a wonderful idea and allow you to come to a compromise with your kids. They’ll get the great new look they’ve been hoping for, and you’ll be able to pull it off without a big expenditure. Everyone will get what they want, and applying decals doesn’t even make a mess.

It’s obvious that there are lots of options and benefits to decorating with removable decals. If you’re dealing with a kid who always wants something different, these decals can be a big help. Buy them on sale and you’ll have plenty of options to help your child redecorate.

How To Find Unique Outdoor Christmas Lighting

Friday, December 19th, 2008

by Christine Bass-Pringle

When you are out and about looking for that perfect lighting string for Christmas this holiday season, you may consider on a general type before you make a purchase. Christmas yard decorations have expanded into all shapes, sizes and effects that may or may not be suited to your specific home type.

So many people shopping for holiday decorations like to go with the simple yet elegant design; the result is a new popular lighting method of decoration: the spotlight. Using just a spotlight you can highlight a fabulous door decoration for a clean, bright look that draws the viewer to that very spot. This type of lighting is a fresh addition to traditional home decorating motifs.

Imagine a traditional colonial home with white siding and a magnificent red door. Add a green decorated holiday wreath and a spotlight and you have the makings for a wonderful yet simple holiday design. This makes an ideal Christmas light for home decoration with a traditional appeal and is quite simple.

Another way to add dazzle and pizzazz to your exterior decorations: Think of putting a log cabin house with a Christmas light outside that will brighten a dark exterior as well as entertain passers-by. A spotlight will truly illuminate the scene and with larger flashing bulbs, and a dark exterior will come suddenly alive. Christmas yard decorating can be very elegant in this style, too.

Owners of cottage style homes might want to look into purchasing small twinkling lights. I have a small cottage house and I initially thought that perfect Christmas yard decorating would be big and flashy. So I purchased a bunch of holiday lights and I couldn’t wait to see the display.

My hubby and I have been a bit overwhelmed by the outcome of our decorating efforts. We felt that our attempt at a display was quite a bit over the top. The decorations we decided on for the Christmas cottage outshone the house itself. The display, as a result, seemed to take over our little cottage. That was a bit disappointing.

After that we decided to cut back a little. No investing in icicle lights and flashing bulbs, instead we decided on just a few strings of twinkle lights would be more suited to our little cottage. I absolutely love the thought that we can add lots of twinkles and splashes of flashing lights during the Christmas season. It just turns out that with the front of our cottage being so small, subtlety would be a lot easier on the eyes.

If you have a huge house that can hold up to big displays then the ideal Christmas yard decorations for your place would be bold. So we decided we might use up our extra holiday decorations in the back yard as well. Maybe they won’t overwhelm so much if they are spread out a little bit.

Mood Lighting With Contemporary Chandeliers

Chandeliers have come a long ways from the traditional crystal and glass varieties. They’re available these days in a wide range of both design and materials. Though once used basically in either dining rooms or entrance ways, chandeliers are now being used throughout the whole home.

Whether your need shiny metals, wood, plastic or sparkling glass lighting fixtures to compliment your home’s decoration style, there’s a chandelier that will be the perfect accessory. And, if you like carrying a theme throughout the whole room with lighting, many manufacturers even provide matching wall sconces with many of their designs. From rustic chandeliers to classical you will find many options.

The type of chandelier that you choose should depend on how you plan to use it. If it’s going to be your main lighting for the room, you should choose one with numerous lights. However, if you already have a main source of lighting such as table lamps, then you may want to choose a chandelier that will set a mood.

All light fixtures are made to provide light, but chandeliers can do so much more than just light up your room. When added to a dining room, they can create both casual or formal affects depending on the style that you choose. But, they’re also being used to add romance to a bedrooms decor.

Chandeliers are still one of the most popular lighting fixtures for dining rooms and foyers. When installed in a foyer, a chandelier presents a wonderful first impression of your home to guests. And, with the many designs, they can add any look you want to your dining area.

They are very easy to install and are one of the easiest ways to change the whole feeling of your room. No matter what your decorating style is, there’s a chandelier that can help you bring it all together in a impressive way.
